In this engaging Medical Grand Rounds keynote titled, “A Fresh Take on Leadership in the Age of the Quick-Fix,” Dr. Marcia Alesan Dawkins (she/her/ella) offers a new perspective on the concept of fortitude, exploring mindsets and leadership strategies from underestimated leaders and unexpected places. Drawing on 20+ years of communication research on identity, metaphor, and strategy, Dr. Dawkins offers a kaleidoscope of well-researched narratives that help participants reframe their experiences and combat burnout—especially in healthcare environments. Equally grounded in social science and social life, Dr. Dawkins encourages active participation with “guess who sang this” games, opportunities for reflection, a prescriptive playlist, and a dedicated Q&A session. She pursues a meaningful and interactive experience, inviting participants to expand their perspectives and networks so they can actually leave with what they need — less to do.
