Diane Bergeron, a CCL Senior Research Scientist, appeared in a local television broadcast on March 14, which marks Equal Pay Day. Equal Pay Day signifies how far into the year women have to work in order to earn the same wage men earned in the previous year. She made the point that, if domestic and caregiving were shared more equally across genders, and men felt the career penalties that women have faced for decades, more organizations might change their policies and practices. She also commented that society needs to question why the caretaking roles more often occupied by women (such as teachers and social workers) are undervalued.
