At this pivotal moment in history, the world needs ethical global citizens to shape a sustainable future. Young adults possess the global mindset to spur widespread, global change. Are they ready to answer the call, and what can those in positions of power do to support them?

This Report, co-published by the Asia-Europe Foundation and CCL, shares insights from surveys, interviews, and focus groups with 13,500+ young people across 51 ASEM countries on their leadership engagement, aspirations, and recommendations. It focuses on two key questions to inform recommendations:

  • Key question 1: How are young people engaging with leadership across ASEM countries?
  • Key question 2: What are the incentives and disincentives for young people to take part in leadership?
  • Conclusions and recommendations: What are promising ways to incentivize and design meaningful leadership experiences for young people?
